How to get book care

Are you a book lover? Me and my friend like hunting books very much. We love books very much. That’s why we have enjoyed to join in Goodreads Indonesia. In my room I have several books, not many, over 150 books. In 2002 I made a small library in my home. The books are comics, teenager and children magazines, kumcer, and other books that I got from my mom and my dad. My parents always bring books to me and my sisters from their office. So, me and my sisters enjoy with books very much. Because we grew up in books around, I think.

Now I have stacks of books in my home. My parents say, it enough to start a library. The good idea, I think. But I don’t have anytime to arrange my books, I preferably a bookworm. But I realize that I must keep my book in great condition. I prepared steps that I have to do. Check this out!

Cleaning, coz books need personal hygiene too!
1. Musty odor on books is actually mold, and it’s caused by storing books in a humid environtment. Rescue the book from the humidity, pronto!
2. For matte book covers, try an easer to wipe away grime by moving the easer out towards the edge of the page. For glossy covers, spray glass cleaner an a soft clean cloth, and wipe the book carefully. Do not spray directly on the cover.
3. Remove dust by dusting lightly around the book. Keep the book tightly closed, so you don’t push dust into he pages.

Storing, let’s organize and well-store for easy access
1. Put larger books, like encyclopedias, dictionaries, and picture books on a lower shelf to keep them from toppling onto someone’s head.
2. Organize the collection: by subject, by title, by genre, or by author for easier access to your favorite books!
3. Place similar sized books next to each other on the shelf vertically, packing them neither too loosely nor too tightly, so that help to prevent warping of a tall book next to a short book.
4. Store books upright (vertically) on the shelves. Do not lay other books on top of them.
5. Keep the books dry by humidifier by using dehumidier pellets. Humidity and dampness prodece mold. Some material of paper attack mold easily.

Handling, make them last longer!
1. Read your books with clean hands. No greasy foods when you are reading :D
2. Use a proper bookmark to keep the pages nice. No paperclips, no pen and no folding down a corner of the book!
3. Use pieces of paper or post-it notes to take notes on pages. If you are required to write in the book, use a pencil and erase the markings.
4. Pulling a book out of the shelf by the top of its spine may damage the book. Grasp the spine to take the book out.
5. Do not use books as coasters. This can make them ugly earlier.
6. Never press down on the spine of books while photocopying, especially with large and heavy books. Remind the photocopy man not to do this!
7. Keep your pets away from books. They may damage the book by leaving a mark or using their claws.

The library consist of many books. It must be arranged neatly. I will make a regulation for visitor to protect my books. I hope my children, my grandchild, and my other generation love books very much. I have effort to make the dream come true.
